The Joy of the Resurrection

It is very frightening to not understand what’s going on around you. The fear of the unknown is very real, and has become even more apparent in recent years as the events of the world seem scary and unpredictable. Whether it’s war, disease, or persecution, we cannot live in these days without being affected by the circumstances of this world.

The feelings we have during these days cannot be far off from the feelings the disciples experienced in the days after Jesus’ death. As you read the Scriptures, words like ‘perplexed,’ ‘frightened,’ and ‘doubt’ describe the feelings of the disciples during this time. We can relate; for without revelation of what comes next, we would all be feeling the very same thing as we hear about wars, new strands of Covid, evil leadership, oppression, and famine around the world. But thanks to God and His Word, we are not without hope. For as Scripture says, “he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3)!

After Jesus came back, the disciples joy was complete. He told them that it was even better that He should leave them than to stay, because He would be leaving a helper with them, who would be with them always! After He gave them the command to make disciples of all nations, he also encouraged them with the promise, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matt 28:20).

Even though it is easy to forget to live in the joy and the promise of the Resurrection, it is the reality in which we must live. The days are short, and Jesus’ last command to us still stands: to go, therefore, and make disciples, baptizing them and teaching them to obey. But there is also the promise and joy of His presence with us, which he promised: to always be with us, to the very end of the age!

Therefore, we choose joy in the midst of fear. We seek to obey Jesus’ great commission, rather than to cower behind closed doors. Jesus is ALIVE, our joy is complete, and the task before us is great!

So if you are a supporter of Trumpets of Christ and any of our works in Southeast Asia (Faith Village Children’s Home, Victory Church), we thank you for your partnership in this Great Commission of Jesus! For it is true what He said: signs will accompany His believers, and He is with us. Whether we are rescuing and discipling children at Faith Village, planting a church and preaching the Gospel in Chiang Mai, or witnessing about Jesus in the homes of rural villages, He is with us. These days may be scary, but we are not afraid. We are living in the joy of His resurrection, the reality of His Spirit within us, and the power and authority He has granted us!

So thank you for partnering with us. It requires the participation of the entire body of believers all around the world to accomplish this great task. We are so thankful for the ways you join us, whether in person, in finances, or in prayer! Let us strive towards the goal and never give up hope, for Jesus is ALIVE!
